Frequently Asked Questions

Don't see your question?
Feel free to contact me for any questions or comments.

Where did your business name come from?

Rags has been my nickname since childhood, pulled from my last name Ragland. I entered the embroidery industry in January 1996 and a colleague once said "You have gone from Rags To Stitches". As my services grew to other areas beyond embroidery digitizing and digitizing training, a new business name was needed to suit the variety of services I offer. Since early 2000 I have been doing business as Rags To Stitches Productions.

How long does it take to design and develop a web site?

Turnaround time varies from project to project. Basic informational web sites can be generated within one to two weeks, as opposed to full e-commerce web sites that could take anywhere from 15 to 60 days depending on the amount of products and details. Generally a deadline is decided upon at the time of scheduling. See my project timeline page for details.

Can you update or improve my existing web site?

Yes. All I need is access to your web site through FTP or other protocols.

Are there any maintenance fees after the site is online?

Once your site has been completed, beta tested and live your first year of maintenance is free. Maintenance costs after the first year are billed per hour, or you may take advantage of a maintenance contract to secure a full time, on call webmaster for the duration of the year at a lower rate.

Can I make changes and updates to my site myself?

Yes, I can develop simple and easy to use interfaces that will give you or your staff complete control over any content of your web site with no HTML knowledge required. The only stipulation is the web site must be hosted at UD.Net as they provide the tools and server side includes that allow me to engineer these applications.

Why should I have a web site?

The amount of people around the world using the Internet on a daily basis grows rapidly by the day. Having a presence on the Internet has become almost a requirement for buusiness communications, and expected from the rising online community. Having a web site of even a small size gives you the opportunity to advertise your products and services to a larger audience at an affordable cost, build better customer relationships and provide better customer service. If you do not have a web site, you may be losing business to a competitor who does.

Why choose Rags To Stitches Productions?

Often working with a large firm can be costly and difficult, as a large staff of individuals are often assigned to one project. Other times your business may be specific and the web designer may need to be educated on what exactly it is you do, who your target audience is and how to tailor your web site to those attributes. At Rags To Stitches Productions you have the opportunity to work one-on-one with a degreed professional who is formally trained in marketing and advertising, and how graphic and interactive media applies to it. Having one individual completely focussed on your project goals with a desire to see you succeed can make your journey to an Internet presence easier, more affordable and more effective.

How do I get started?

Feel free to use the online quote request form and let me know what your needs are. I will then call you for a free consultation and details on what we can do to proceed. All projects are offered a non-disclosure agreement, and a price quote and payment arrangements are made before each project is scheduled. You might also visit the pricing page for a better look at how web sites are classified in the quoting phase.

Do you build web sites outside the decorated apparel industry?

Yes. Although the majority of web sites in my portfolio are geared towards the apparel decorating industry, that is a niche market that utilizes my experience to their advantage as we have shared several years in the same field. Customers from the packaging industry, automotive industry and medical fields have all proved to be very pleased with the results of working with me. See my portfolio and testimonials for more.

Why can't I find your phone number anywhere on this site?

Although it is proper business practice to make your number as public as possible, I made the decision not to publish my phone number for several reasons. E-mail is the best way to get in touch with me as I work online several hours every day. Also I am often traveling, busy with customers or even providing consulting rendering me unavailable to take your call. Finally, when I am focussed on a project I like to stay busy on it with the least amount of distractions as possible, and if I were publish the number and answer calls all day, nothing would get done.

Do you still provide embroidery digitizing services?

As of mid 2005 I retired from the embroidery digitizing world to focus on the web design and development services I offer, and to support the many web sites I have created over the years. I am referring all digitizing inquiries to the following recommended and well respected digitizers in the industry:
